Creativity Challenges for Social Distancing (or Artists-in-Residence)

Hello everyone!

It's been a long time, hasn't it?

Somewhere along the way I lost the energy of blogging, for a long time. Actually, to be honest, I was struggling with writing as well. But, I'm back and more energized than ever.  I've finished a draft of a novel, which is now with beta readers. I am starting work on a new non-fiction idea, and I write every day in some form or another.

In a way, this bizarre situation we are in, is a blessing in disguise. Don't get me wrong, my heart breaks for anyone infected and for all those brave people working to keep us functioning (from healthcare workers to grocery store clerks, and everyone else). I feel for all the teachers (myself included) trying to create worthwhile educational experiences on-line, when those experiences are meant to be in person. I feel for all the college students sent home, and the younger students who feel the separation from their peers in ways adults may not understand.

But, for me this seems to be a time for creative reflection and inspiration. It is a time for the world to reinvent itself in what, I hope, will be healthier, happier, more connected ways. It all starts with a willingness to see things differently. For everyone, we are being tasked with looking from a new perspective and developing new skills.

Honestly, I've been doing that for a while now, through a Kick Ass Coaching course I took, as I look toward a little reinvention or redesign of my life. One of my coaches challenged me to make a video where I talked about my view of the world, and the role of creativity or imagination in it. I stepped up to the challenge.

I then decided to take that challenge further, and offer some creative challenges to anyone interested in participating. So please join me in a new series that I am calling Creativity Challenges. We are all artists-in-residence at the moment, so why not share our our work?

The first challenge:  YOUR GREATEST WISH
