The Power of Creating Your Own Path
The first day I saw this billboard, my mind yelled,"THAT'S IT!" I can't honestly say my voice didn't follow. It is quite possible that I sang out in the car.
I have seen numerous billboards put up by values.com and liked many of them, but for some reason this particular one really speaks to me.
Perhaps it is because Einstein and I share a birthday (March 14th, just around the corner). Perhaps it is because I've always loved his crazy hair or his attitude toward the arts, education, and life.
I think I first saw this billboard the day I finally decided to celebrate my own unique ability. Could it be, perhaps, that I gained a little confidence from the sight?
The reason this image speaks to me stems from my own struggle to be good enough, to compete, to achieve "success" according to rules laid out by other people. I have spent too much of my life not recognizing that, while I may approach the world differently, my approach has as much value (if not more) than anyone else's.
Where would the world be if Einstein had given up as a child because he was a "slow learner?" Where would the world be if he took his failures as a sign that he could do nothing and never applied his unique mind to problems beyond my comprehension?
Now, I'm not saying I am Einstein. I'm not saying that any of my contributions to society will change the way we perceive the world. But, I have slowly come to realize that we all have something to offer, if what we offer is the best of ourselves. There is no one path to success. There is no one definition of achievement.
The road to fulfillment is not paved with "A's" or awards or accolades. It does not lie in achieving a certain title, or getting a certain salary.
No fulfillment comes from feeling confident in your own life choices, even when you make mistakes. Fulfillment comes from keeping your eyes open to possibility, to dreams, to imagination, and to others. Fulfillment comes from carving your own creative path, but never completely letting go of your inner child.
Life is good.
What inspires you? How are you creating your path in life? What helps you feel confident?

Or perhaps its simply the fact that there are many pictures of me in the world with my tongue sticking out. ;)"The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination." Albert Einstein

I am writing my own path. I am using my strengths to make change. I am learning from my weaknesses. I am growing in confidence, and that will make all the difference."The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives." Albert Einstein
