When You Open to Possibility

Being Open to Possibilility Means that Possibilities Open Up

It always amazes me how a shift in mindset opens up new possibilities.

I know that there a many coaches and thought leaders out there talking about manifesting your desires, dreams, money. While I do believe that the energy of the universe works with us, I also struggle with this concept.

Why? Because if things don't happen quickly, or to the extent that these coaches often promise, then it becomes "you didn't believe enough," or "you used the wrong words," or anything that shifts the blame to you rather than to their methods and practices.

For this reason, when I help people access their creativity I don't promise that they will become rich and famous. I know that, by allowing themselves to be more open and playful with their lives and their dreams, the possibility of more things open up.

How do I know this? Because it's happening to me right now!!!

I struggle with doubt and imposter syndrome just like anyone else. I have creative blocks at times. They can become a prison if I am dealing with stress and family issues. I have to work through things like everyone else.

When I commit fully, though, to a project or an idea, or simply to believing in myself, that's when the mysterious serendipity of the universe kicks in. It's ironic and joyous and laughable.

A Commitment to Possibility and Myself

Let me see if I can explain. In January I made a commitment to myself to become more focused on achieving my dreams. No,
this was not a resolution--because resolutions fail all the time. It was just a commitment to strive with more intention.

Since then, I have made very specific decisions and taken some very scary leaps. I have chosen to invest in believing in myself. What does this mean?:

I will publish RE-CREATING THE WORLD: THE POWER AND JOY OF COLLABORATIVE CREATIVITY  this year. This book looks at why creativity and collaboration are crucial to both individuals and communities. Along with stories and essays, It will provide techniques and activities that you can do alone or in groups to enhance creativity and work across difference and challenges. Follow me here to learn more about how you can be part of my launch team, or drop me an email to let me know you are interested.

I have applied for a grant to develop an anthology called RECLAIMING THE GODDESS: HOW TO BRING THE WORLD INTO BALANCE. Whether or not I get the grant, I am so excited to dive into this project, and invite the voices, art, and creativity of others into an important topic. I will be doing a call for submissions soon, so be sure to sign up for my mailing list or follow me on social media if you want to be involved.

I have also committed to developing more Creative Workshops and Talks that combine improvisation, Gateless, and creative brain science to enhance things like Leadership, Collaboration, Community Development, and so on. Really, the possibilities are endless.

Enter the Universe

You are probably wondering what this has to do with the universe. The key is that I've committed to doing all of these things (plus a few others.) I'm keeping busy, and that's exciting. All these ideas take time.

And then, the universe steps in. Since I made these commitments to myself I have :
  • Found more job opportunities that I would love to do.
  • Connected with more interesting people with ideas that enhance mine. People with whom I hope to collaborate.
  • Discovered more talent and creativity in the world.
  • Realized more ways that this work is being done in interesting ways, which reinforces why it is so important.
  • Expanded my list of goals, dreams, and possibilities.
It's almost overwhelming!

I don't know if I believe this is manifestation becoming reality. Instead, I think its more like this:

By opening your mind to possibility, you welcome creativity.
By opening your heart to possibility, you welcome connection.
By opening your soul to possibility, you welcome serendipity.
By opening your mind to possibility, you welcome surprises.

Welcome to the world of possibility.
